Azerbaijan Scientific Research Institute of Construction and Architecture was established by order of the Council of Ministers of USSR № 1163 of June 13, 1984 and the order of the Council of Ministers of the Azerbaijan SSR № 341 of August 30, 1984 on the basis of individual laboratories and branches of various institutions of the former Soviet Union (SRI of Building Structures named after V.A. Kucherenko, SRI on concrete and reinforced concrete, and the Research Institute of the mechanization and organization of construction, All-Union Scientific-Research and Design Institute of Labor in Construction and Transcaucasia Experimental Design Scientific-Research Institute) located in Baku city.
Currently, the structure of the Institute includes 13 laboratories and divisions. Academic Council and doctorate staff training for leading specialties of construction and architecture sciences operate under the institute. "Construction and Architecture in Azerbaijan" period scientific-practical journal founded by institute is published here.
